The DaHai 1-on-1 teacher delegation under Tomorrow Advancing Life went to Cornell University for training.

On April 27th, the delegation of "Hai Shi", the online one-on-one education brand under the umbrella of TAL Education Group, went to the United States for training. The special education and training program lasted for 2 days and was custom-made by Hai Shi 1 to 1 in collaboration with the world-renowned Cornell University in the United States.

The "Hai Shi" delegation was composed of 13 outstanding college reserve teachers selected from all over the country. During their trip to the United States, they not only visited Ivy League schools such as Harvard University, Columbia University, and Cornell University, but also went to Boynton Middle School to observe the classes and experience American teaching methods alongside American middle school students.

At the final stop of their journey, the "Hai Shi" delegation also visited the Silicon Valley research and development department of TAL Education Group to gain a deep understanding of the empowering effect of "AI + Education" on online personalized education and shared their experiences with the research and development team, discussing the future development of online education together.

The American education training for "Hai Shi" is one of the teacher reserve training programs of Hai Shi 1 to 1. With the development of the times, today's education is no longer the traditional mode of a blackboard and chalk. Modern teaching methods have enriched classroom content and improved the teaching efficiency of teachers and the learning interest of students. The focus of teacher training has shifted to helping teachers adapt to new technologies such as information technology and artificial intelligence. Hai Shi 1 to 1 is committed to improving teachers' teaching skills and personal qualities, helping them adapt to new technological changes such as informatization and artificial intelligence, in order to carry out online one-on-one education more effectively.

The head of the Hai project team, Huang Banan, stated that the purpose of this activity is to allow "Hai Shi" to deepen their understanding of American politics, culture, education, and technology through visits to top universities such as Harvard, Stanford, and Cornell, and to experience the educational methods of world-leading universities in person, in order to expand their horizons, enrich their knowledge, better explore the future direction of vocational education, and improve their educational skills and personal qualities.

The education training program attended by "Hai Shi" was custom-made by Cornell University for Hai Shi 1 to 1. Bryan Duff, a senior lecturer at Cornell University, provided detailed introductions to the American education system to the "Hai Shi" delegation and conducted analyses and discussions with them on the differences between the Chinese and American education models, the advantages and disadvantages of both, and the commonly used teaching methods and techniques of American teachers.

When discussing the differences between Chinese and American education, Professor Duff pointed out that American teachers attach great importance to students' ability to think critically, encouraging students to ask questions bravely. "There are no stupid questions, only imperfect answers." In American classrooms, any question raised by students is praised, and teachers never criticize students' questions as stupid or refuse any student's question.

Similarly, Hai Shi advocates the education philosophy of "inspiring interest in learning, fostering learning habits, and building a knowledge system," aiming to stimulate children's interest in learning through encouraging teaching and guiding active questioning in the classroom. When students actively ask questions, teachers praise them and inspire them to find answers on their own. Hai Shi's AI classroom monitoring system can intelligently detect students' questioning habits and summarize them into visual feedback reports to cultivate students' good learning habits of "willing to express, diligent note-taking, and good summarizing." Hai Shi hopes to improve students' daily learning performance and learning efficiency through habit cultivation, thus perfecting students' knowledge system framework.

"Hai Shi" exchanging educational experiences with Boynton Middle School teachers

After the training program, the "Hai Shi" delegation also visited the well-known local middle school, Boynton Middle School. They attended classes with American middle school students, experiencing an American classroom firsthand and closely observing the teaching methods and approaches of excellent American middle school teachers, resulting in a fruitful experience.

During the process of sharing teaching experiences, some "Hai Shi" members discovered that stimulating students' interest in autonomous learning is the cornerstone of cultivating students' learning abilities. One "Hai Shi" member from Beijing Jiaotong University mentioned that because students liked their teaching style, they developed a strong interest in the subject they taught, transformed from being silent in class to being willing to ask questions, and their personality became more extroverted and cheerful. They went from passive learning to active learning, with a greatly increased enthusiasm for learning.

By encouraging teaching that stimulates students' interest in learning and using AI technology to intelligently record students' classroom question and answer interactions, note-taking, and summarization situations, Hai Shi helps students develop good learning habits of "willing to express, diligent note-taking, and good summarizing." Hai Shi 1 to 1 hopes to improve students' learning efficiency within the school through after-school tutoring, making the changes in students visible.

The person in charge of TAL Education Group's Silicon Valley research and development department stated that as the first overseas team of TAL Education Group, the Silicon Valley research and development department will use the scientific, technological, and talent advantages of the United States to integrate innovations in the fields of cognitive science, educational psychology, measurement, and speech and language technology, to enhance the scientific potential of Hai Shi's business. They aim to provide driving force for exploring new educational models and use technological means to find standardized solutions to the issue of unequal access to high-quality educational resources, ultimately allowing more children to enjoy a large amount of high-quality personalized content.
